News stories are written in a special way. They focus on facts that answer the '5 W's and an H' – who, what, where, when, why and how. They start with a 'lead' sentence or paragraph which summarizes the whole story. From there, information is given in an 'inverted pyramid,' by ordering information from most important to least important.

Features are like news stories, only they usually have a topic that is more about hobbies or special interests rather than events.
